India, South Korea sign two major agreements:
India and South Korea have signed two major agreements to further defense educational exchanges and extend logistical support to each other’s Navies.

The agreements will help enhance defense co-operation between the two countries

First for Indian Railways: Fun zone opens at Visakhapatnam railway station:
In a first of its kind in the Indian Railways, a paid gaming zone has been provided at Visakhapatnam railway station in Andhra Pradesh.

The project was developed under NINFRIS (New, Innovative Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme) of the ministry of railways.

Union Territories of J&K, Ladakh to have common High Court:
The Union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will have a common High Court.

Legislative Assembly will be formed in J&K as UT but there will be no Legislative Assembly in the Union Territory of Ladakh as it will be directly controlled by the Union Government.

Govt to spend Rs 3.5 lakh cr in next five years on Jal Jeevan Mission: PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that the central government will spend 3.5 lakh crore rupees in the next five years on 'Jal Jeevan Mission' to deliver potable water at every household across the country.

"Under MUDRA scheme, one woman in every SHG will get a loan of 1 lakh rupees and this will help them start new ventures and grow their business.

President Kovind embarks on 9-day visit to Iceland, Switzerland & Slovenia:
President Ram Nath Kovind embarked on an official nine-day visit to Iceland, Switzerland, and Slovenia to enhance India's political and economic ties with the three European countries.

The final leg of the visit to Slovenia will begin on 15th of this month and mark the first-ever visit by an Indian President to the country.

Turkey, U.S. conduct joint patrols in Syria:
Turkish and U.S. troops conducted their first joint ground patrol in northeastern Syria as part of a so-called “safe zone” that Ankara has been pressing for in the volatile region.

RBI selects vendor for developing a mobile app for visually impaired:
The Reserve Bank of India has selected a vendor to develop a mobile phone-based application for them.

The RBI had told the Bombay High Court that an internet connection would not be required for its proposed mobile application which would help visually impaired people identify currency notes.

Daffodil Software Pvt Ltd has been selected to develop the application, it added. At present, banknotes in the denominations of Rs 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 2,000 are in circulation, besides Re 1 notes issued by the Centre.

Chandrayaan 2 Lander Located On Moon's Surface:
ISRO had lost contact with Vikram, one of three components of the Chandrayaan 2 spacecraft while the lander was attempting a historic soft landing near the south pole of the moon.

The lander stopped transmitting just 2.1 kilometers from the moon's surface.

India had expected to make space history with the Rs. 1,000-crore Chandrayaan 2 mission. A successful soft landing on the moon's surface would have made the country only the fourth - after the United States, Russia, and China - to achieve the feat.

Russian tennis player Oksana Selekhmeteva paired with Latvian player Kamilla Bartone won junior doubles trophy at US Open.

Rafael Nadal clinches fourth US Open Tennis Men's single title:
Rafael Nadal has won US Open Men's singles beating Daniil Medvedev. This is his fourth US Open title and 19th Grand Slam trophy. Spanish left-hander chased his 19th career Grand Slam singles title, one shy of Roger Federer's all-time men's record, in his 27th Slam final.

Noted lawyer and former Union Minister Ram Jethmalani passed away at his residence in New Delhi. He was 95.
